Comparative Study of Temporalis Fascia Graft versus Cartilage Shield Tympanoplasty in Chronic Otitis Media - Mucosal Type

چکیده
Introduction: Tympanoplasty is the procedure of choice for surgical correction tympanic membrane perforation triggered by either chronic otitis media or trauma. Various types autologous grafts have been used to close perforations among which temporalis fascia and tragal cartilage are preferred, due their anatomic proximity, ease harvesting suppleness.
Aims: To compare clinical audiological outcomes type 1 tympanoplasty where were as graft material.
Methods: A prospective study was conducted on 50 patients ages ranging from 10 years with Chronic Otitis Media - Mucosal. All underwent categorized into Group-A (Temporalis graft) Group-B (Cartilage graft), each group comprising 25 patients. Graft uptake rate, hearing gain air bone gap closure compared between groups in 4 8 weeks after surgery.
Results: Out total patients, 20 male 30 female. The average age 28.20 years. whole series 14.94 dB while 14.78 respectively. difference pre post-operative statistically significant both conduction, (P<0.05) series. There 15.56 improvement mean threshold 15.64 group, 14.32 13.92 group. rate 84% 92 % groups.
Conclusion: results comparable those fascia. Cartilage has a higher low failure also shows high degree reliability risk cases. Both provided similar improvements outcome post-operatively. Thus, recommended an alternative option.

Cartilage reinforcement graft versus fascia graft in tympanoplasty
Background/aim: The purpose of this study was to compare cartilage reinforcement graft results with temporalis fascia graft alone in terms of hearing and anatomical outcomes in tympanoplasty. Materials and methods: Patients who underwent tympanoplasty with/without ossiculoplasty and/or mastoidectomy at a university hospital from 2006 through 2013 were reviewed retrospectively. The patients were...

Introduction: Operations on the tympanic membrane of the middle ear, myringoplasty, and tympanoplasty are now widely accepted, and attempts are underway all over the world to standardize the surgical techniques. This study aimed to compare postoperative outcomes of endoscopic and microscopic cartilage myringoplasty in patients suffering from chronic otitis media (COM). Mater...

BACKGROUND To assess, analyze and compare the results of graft uptake using Tragal Cartilage-Perichondrium Composite (TCPC) graft with Temporalis Fascia (TF) graft in patients who undergoing surgery for chronic otitis media - squamous type. METHODS Patients aged 13 years and above with diagnosis of chronic otitis media - squamous type undergoing modified radical mastoidectomy, either primary ...
متن کاملComparison of Modified Cartilage Shield Tympanoplasty with Tympanoplasty Using Temporalis Fascia Only: Retrospective Analysis of 142 Cases
The current study compares outcomes of modified cartilage shield tympanoplasty (CST) with temporalis fascia tympanoplasty in type I procedures in Indian patients. Graft uptake rates are better with the CST technique and hearing results are almost equivalent with both techniques except at 8000 Hz where improvement in hearing was found better with the use of temporalis fascia alone. The CST techn...
متن کاملComparative Outcome of Temporal Fascia and Tragal Cartilage Graft in Type 1 Tympanoplasty
Materials and method: One hundred and twenty patients who had undergone type 1 tympanoplasty using temporal fascia and tragal cartilage were retrospectively reviewed. Eighty seven patients underwent tympanoplasty using temporal fascia graft while in 33 patients, tragal cartilage with perichondrium was employed. Graft take up was analyzed at 6 weeks post-operatively, in both the groups. Pre-oper...
